Background
In the past five years, my work has focused on treating young adults struggling with anxiety and depression. Prior to establishing my private practice, I gained valuable experience in these roles: Crisis Hotline Volunteer, Residential Counselor for an Anxiety Treatment Center, Integrated Behavioral Therapist at Concord Hospital, Clinical Assistant for a Short-Term Assessment Program for at-risk youth, Community Mental Health Counselor, School-based Clinician, and Intake Therapist for an Eating Disorder Recovery Program.
I also have a strong background in athletics. I grew up in a “sports family” and had the opportunity to play basketball the collegiete level. In early adulthood, I coached a freshman basketball team and spent several summers as a YMCA kids camp counselor.
Theoretical Orientation
I take an integrative approach to therapy. I include elements of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and committment therapy (ACT), exposure and prevention response (ERP), mindfulness, and eco-therapy. I strive to understand each individual's unique worldview, values, and way of making meaning. Clients have described me as warm, insightful, compassionate, and practical.
I take a “client-centered approach” which means I honor your process and prioritize what you would like to discuss. At the same time, I ask questions aimed at deepening your reflections and provide tools/perspectives that I sense will help you. I encourage clients to engage intellectually by recommending books and podcasts. I emphasize goal setting because I believe the real work is what you do when you leave my office. I don’t pretend to have all the answers but instead help clients connect to their inner wisdom and re-establish trust with themselves.
